The Super-AP coating (silver) has proven particularly useful for plugs for wearable applications, where there is direct contact between the electrical contacts and the skin. The nickel-free Super AP coating is extremely resistant to electrolytic/galvanic corrosion while maintaining very low resistivity. Such a coating can help extend the life of the contacts of electrical wearables and increase their reliability. Compared to a gold plating, the Super AP plating is:

  • 2 x more resistant to salt water
  • 5x more resistant to perspiration
  • 30x more resistant to electrolysis
  • Nickel Free

The spring contact plug shown here has a current of 1A and a spring force of 120g. The service life is at least 10.000 cycles. The length is just 7,7mm and the width is 2,8mm.

The plug is under the article number SVPC-C-P08945MS1-03A250HR or SVPC-C-P08945FL2-03AHR .

Spring contact connectors are a popular choice for use in wearables due to their flexibility and their ability to make a reliable electrical connection. Spring contacts are usually very small and can easily be accommodated in compact devices such as wearables. In addition, they can flexibly adapt to different shapes and surfaces, which makes them ideal for use in wearables, which often have an irregular shape. They offer a reliable electrical connection that is maintained even with movement and vibration. This is an important criterion for smart watches, for example.

By the way, in addition to the Super-AP coating, we also offer other precious metal coatings to meet specific requirements. Nickel, brass, palladium-nickel or palladium-cobalt are also common coating materials. We will be happy to advise you in detail on the special coatings for Miniature spring contact based connectors.
