Due to the special 4P design of the spring contact probes, nominal currents up to 8A have been possible. In this design, the three components of a pogo pin (plunger, spring and barrel) are supplemented by a stainless steel ball or a cap as a fourth component. Thereby the annealing of the compression spring is precluded by too low lateral forces at high currents.
In order to meet the increasing demand for fast charging times of power-intensive applications and at the same time high requirements in miniaturization, the design has been continuously developed and improved. Thus, rated currents of up to 13A can now be realized.
This is possible with all spring contacts from a length of 7mm. Application are e-bikes and smart home speakers.
