Especially in medical technology, where high hygienic requirements apply, magnetic circular connectors can show their strengths. The integration of a magnet creates a self-guiding connection that can also handle difficult plug-in situations without great effort.
The contact surfaces of the plugs will be designed extremely flat and small, so that there are no indentations and grooves as with conventional contoured plugs. This makes them particularly interesting for applications in the medical field. Because it is precisely the elevations, gaps and crevices that conventional connector systems entail that harbor a high risk of contamination. A charging current of up to 15A per pin can be transmitted via integrated spring contacts. Through the direct encapsulation with plastic or sealing with elastomer materials, the designed magnetic plugs achieve a protection class of up to IPx8. This ensures that the connector is protected against the ingress of moisture and water and can therefore be used in environments where reliability and durability are important.
In addition, a magnetic connection is shock and vibration resistant and ensures perfect and safe operation. The magnetically defined release mechanism prevents damage to the device caused by unwanted pulling on the cable, and mechanical wear and tear caused by frequent plugging and unplugging is almost eliminated.
