Spring contacts with special coatings

Coated spring contacts
Coated spring contacts, also with partial coating

In the standard version, spring contact probes are coated with gold, as it has excellent electrical conductivity and offers a high level of protection against corrosion and oxidation. The pin sleeve and the plunger of a spring contact are usually coated twice. Depending on the application, we can also offer other precious metal coatings such as nickel, palladium-nickel, brass and palladium-cobalt in silver and black. Partial coating of individual components, such as just the piston or the pin sleeve, is also possible (see product image).

Of particular interest in this context are spring contacts with the Super AP coating, which we offer as a special coating. This nickel-free coating is extremely resistant to electrolytic and galvanic corrosion, while at the same time having an extremely low resistance. Compared to the standard gold coating, it has twice the resistance to salt water and perspiration, and is 30 times more robust against electrolysis. This coating is used particularly in rough conditions in outdoor and industrial areas, as well as in wearables.

Wearables such as smartwatches, fitness trackers or other wearable devices are often used in situations where they are subjected to high stress, such as during sports or other physical activities. The Super AP coating extends the life of the devices and makes them more resistant to external influences. In addition, the coating also offers better resistance to corrosion and oxidation, which is particularly important for wearables, which often come into contact with sweat and moisture.
